I've seen you can buy complete Heroes, Skills and Weapons unlockers in the browser cash-shop of GW. I'd never use such things but what is the point of the game if you have all of those things right off the bet? In my opinion they make a half of the game, other part is questing storyline and pvp.

Most of what you can buy from the online shop only benefits PvP characters directly.

For example, while you may be able to unlock all elite skills through a purchase, on a PvE character you will still have to unlock it, via a skill tome or by capturing it.

Equipment is the same way, your PvP characters will be able to use it but if you want certain item on a PvE character you will have to purchase it via in game money from other players.

Mercenary hero slots are the only thing a PvE character can truly benefit from with having to put extra effort into it. The hero slot allows you to make one of you current characters into a hero which all characters on your account will be able to access, expect the one that is a mercenary hero.

If you have anymore questions please let us know!

Sorry for typos. I'm on my phone

also, many people have more than one account so they may not want to go thru the whole process of re-unlocking everything again. as well as many people only want to pvp and the game was originally designed for that to be the 'end game'.

Having the full hero pack is nice or even necessary by some players because it gives you more heroes of each profession. Basically more power and flexibility. It also gives you more heroes sooner.

The weapons are just nicer weapon skins that you can make as much as you want. Bonus Mission Pack ones can be modded and are req.9 for each attribute you can want. They can even be thrown on your heroes instead of default or cruddy weapons.

I'm just going to echo everybody else and say that, even if you buy all of the stuff in the cash-shop, it's not going to make you that much more powerful but it will give you more options for building your characters and heroes.

This isn't like GW 2 where you can buy max armor and weapons with mods already on them, and you most certainly can'y buy in-game gold from the cash shop.
The armors in the shop are just skins that are applied over your current armor and does not change their stats.
The weapons may have the maximum damage for their weapon type buy they probably don't have the mods that you want to use or they may not have any mods at all. Plus, maximum damage weapons are fairly easy to get from collectors or weaponsmiths in the game, but its always their mods that are harder to get (for example, a spear with +20% enchantments is fairly rare).
And the heroes, while they're already at level 20, still need to be given their own weapons and runes for their armor.

The point of the this game has always been that you can reach your maximum power rather quickly but it's going to take a lot longer to access more skins and more skills to handle different types of enemies.

Thanks. I play characters untwinked but it's good to know what edge can be bought.

But all of your heroes directly benefit from those skill unlocks. And that#s rather nice.

You can pick up your heroes by playing the game. And any elite skill you have the hero, if the same class, can use them also. Any unlock of skills is for the hero/merc not you. I don't see really how that's an edge that can be bought. Especially in PvE. PVP is a horse of a different color.

PS aren't you the person who decided not to buy anyway because of necro models?

I have no idea what your beef with GW2 is but you can't buy max weapons/armour from the cash shop there, either. In fact unlike GW1 you can't buy any weapons from the cash shop, just skins which are statless and cannot be equipped, they must be applied to a weapon you already have.

I just went on GW 2 Trading Post and I saw the Twilight legendary greatsword (along with a Sigil of Leeching) for 3000 gold coins. And you can still buy Gems with real money, which can be exchanged for in-game gold coins. Therefore, I think you are mistaken.

Anyway, Tomer said that he didn't like GW 2 (in another topic) so I was just re-assuring him/her that GW 1 is nothing like GW 2.

For now I'm not buying it but I still research about it because I like what the game stands for. I think it's quite unique. I'm still learning about it so if I don't find any big flaws I won't let something like character models keep me from playing. I'm also surfing around for other games, so if I find something else that's more around my alley I'll pick that up instead for the time being. But really what I'm interested in is a compelling end-game.

What I don't like about GW2 is that in events or PvP I gain the high-end gear and that's something I wanna gain in the end game. Just being able to play with it once is enough for me to lose interest if I didn't earn it.
The second thing is that I need to explore/do hearts inbetween storyline quests. Reviewers said that "you can do what you want" but it's in my experience that wasn't true. I felt it getting repetetive way too quickly. Storyline quest... Then I can't do the next so welp gotta do dem hearts etc etc.

Edit:
Also I don't know if it's only with the Necromancer but I found the combat system quite tactical which isn't a bad thing if done right. Makes new skills alot more rewarding to gain too. (speaking of GW1)
